The Spring/Summer 2012 OFFSHORE collection is a natural evolution of the preceding Panama collection, a consolidation of experimentation and research culminating in further exploration in design and materials, all the while raising the bar for SUPER and its competitors. Color is key: soft translucent colors, new colored acetates and colored lenses, contrasts and tints—each combination carefully selected to ensure that the quality and design are not diluted. This season we feature matte and crystal acetates while at the same time introducing entirely new, top quality havana and tortoise acetates. The OFFSHORE also sees the inclusion of a new quality photochromatic glass lens by Barberini, set in our first ever full metal frames. Building on the concept we introduced with PANAMA, we extend our range of hand-crafted prints, this time from a selection of vintage postcards and antique marine drawings, to a range of specially-chosen silhouettes.
This collection was designed with the joy and spirit of the Spring/Summer season in mind: the excited anticipation of Summer in the Spring months as the stretch in the evenings arrives, and the infectious carefree, devil-may-care Summer time high.

BASIC SHAPE: VELVET BABY BLUE/VELVET MOSS

For Spring we gave our trusty BASIC shape a make-over, experimenting with color and material without touching the timeless silhouette. Light to the touch, easy on the eye: we paired soft, translucent colored matte acetate with a velvety-smooth finish and a contrasting colored lens. Available in a soft green frame with a nylon blue lens, or inversely with a baby blue frame and a dark green lens. Strong in its simplicity, easy-going, easy-to-wear. This set of BASIC SHAPES will suit your mood as the days get longer and Summer beckons.

GIAGUARO: EVE

This unique piece of eyewear was designed with the lengthening in the days in mind and the lingering Summer sunsets, watched from the beach or a rooftop. The lens mimics the warm light of the sun as it sets, fading from a light yellow to a faint mustard, making it ideal to be worn in situations with low-lighting. As with the GIAGUARO introduced in the PANAMA collection, this model is delicate and elegant, encased in a girly flirtatious pink with discreet gold detailing.

LUCIA: CANDY (AKA LUCIA IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS)

This set of our staple LUCIA model will be nothing but trouble for the men this Summer. The sweet candy-colored crystal acetates are paired with contrasting colored lenses,semi- transparent in order to see the girl’s eyes. Ultra-feminine, with a retro 60s and 70s flavor, interpreted as always with modern materials. The lenses are lightly tinted making them ideal for situations with dim-lighting. Playful, flirtatious, provocative: sure to turn heads .

HAVANA & TORTOISE SPRING 2012

At SUPER we like to reinterpret our classic and popular shapes, that way experimenting without straying too far from our roots and our winning formula. This season we extensively researched havana and tortoise acetates, allowing us to experiment with various color and acetate combos.

The carefully selected series of tortoise-inspired and wild havana acetates are interpreted in much-loved signature silhouettes: The PEOPLE with a square patterned acetate; the CICCIO with a burnt havana flame-like acetate; the W in a psychedelic inferno dark havana; the AMERICA is a spotted caramel havana, the BASIC in a wild matte dark havana, and the FLAT TOP comes in two sharp new havana acetates: a dark kaleidoscope-patterned havana and a groovy light havana reminiscent of a tiger print.

All top-offed with the meticulously combined tint of Carl Zeiss lens. Classic and timeless shapes with a wild edge.

PANAMA: PORT COLORS

When we introduced the PANAMA model last season in havana and tortoise acetates, we knew it had the staying power to become a SUPER classic, the timelessness of the silhouette and strength of the design making it easily adaptable to various personas. This season we are introducing color in the PANAMA model. The color combinations were carefully studied to ensure a tasteful and modest effect of transparent acetates and tinted lenses without diluting the class and elegance of the model. Available in three variations: in lucid metal in matte blue, in a brown crystal acetate or green crystal acetate, always with silver hardware. Subtle yet striking.

PILOT SERIES

At SUPER we made it our mission this season to produce the perfect shades for driving in the high-glare Spring/Summer months. The result? The PILOT SERIES: four of our sportiest, most sought-after silhouettes equipped with a unique Carl Zeiss lens specifically designed for driving. Studies have proven that the special brown and orange tinged lenses provide the optimum comfort to the eye under the strain of sunlight.

Colors are not modified, allowing the eye to relax rather than to adjust to unnatural colors. The shades were then treated with an anti-reflection effect on the inside to avoid those annoying and distracting reflections in your eyes and allow you to see clearer. Ideal for driving short or long distances, whether it be in your sports car, family wagon, chopper, speed boat or scooter. Available in sleek, impeccable black with gunmetal hardware in our FLAT TOP, RACER, GIAGUARO or FLAT TOP SMALL silhouettes.

GIAGUARO: QUASIMODO

Drawing on the same concept as our previous VINCENZO and RANDAGIO models, the GIAGUARO ‘QUASIMODO’ is a result of a long-forgotten acetate-blending technique from the Seventies. This completely unique yet classic piece of eyewear is composed of three various havana acetates in the same family of color, with each acetate forming a different component of the shades. The deep bottle-green lenses offer the final stand-out touch. Completely unique, for those eyewear connoisseurs who like to turn heads.

METAL: LEON

This is the first time SUPER has designed a full metal silhouette , all the while ensuring that we remain true to our mission: realizing high-quality, stylish and sturdy eyewear.

The over-sized metal frame features a single bridge rather than a nose piece, giving a very unique take on a familiar design, while the sturdiness of the metal frame is thanks to the use of Barberini glass lenses, which have been carefully selected in a variety of tints and feature the photo-chromatic technology, therefore adjusting to the sensitivity of the light.

The shades are characterized by a meticulous engraving and decoration around the lenses, and feature an ‘RETROSUPERFUTURE’ inscription underneath the bridge. Available in three color variations: with a golden frame and a selection of lenses in yellow, green, blue, and pink. A beautiful, delicate and functional piece of eyewear.
