RELEASE: SUPER + IZZUE + HILARY

SUPER has teamed up with super-hip Hong Kong brand Izzue and the eclectic style guru Ms Hilary Tsui for a limited 200pz + 200pz special release of our iconic Flat Tops.

Two special editions of the best-selling signature SUPER silhouette have been designed in line with the much-anticipated collection designed by Hilary Tsui for Izzue, the youthful Hong Kong fashion label.

The vintage black/beige colour combo is in keeping with SUPER’s revamped-retro aesthetic, to varying degrees on either model: The Flat Tops are available either with a black frame and lens, and beige inside, or in a beige frame with black lens, with black inside.
The simplicity of the black frame model emphasizes the Flat Top silhouette, boldly outlining the iconic shape for maximum impact, while the beige frames slightly softens the Flat Top silhouette, playing up the vintage colour-contrast while retaining that Flat Top edge.

Each of these special edition can’t-miss models come in a special collector’s box with personalized inscriptions. As always, SUPER standards of quality and care are guaranteed.

The collaboration between Super, Izzue and Hilary Tsui is a welcome statement of style and spirit, a shared vision for experimentation and expression in design.

RELEASE: VINCENZO

It’s that time again. For SUPER fiends who want to own an exceptional, stand-alone piece, we present the third offering in our special limited release series: VINCENZO

Following our exclusive editions RANDAGIO and ILARIA, VINCENZO is a distinctive restyling of our PEOPLE model, the slender-framed, easy-going member of the SUPER family.
Like the PEOPLE, the VINCENZO has smooth, shapely lenses set in geometrical angles to suit every face shape, but with an added twist. Limited to selected stores only, this special release is brave without being brash.
They may not make ‘em like they used to. But we do.

We are excited to tell you that the VINCENZO are handcrafted using a long-forgotten technique from the ‘70s that combines havana and tortoise acetates, lending authentic old-school kudos to these beauties. Chic Havana Classic is seamlessly blended with a fierce Puma acetate on both the arms and bridge of the model, updating the technique and giving it a current, bold feel.
The delicate gold plaques at the front and on the arms nicely catch the light to subtly twinkle against the Havana Classic acetate.

As with all of our products, VINCENZO is handcrafted meticulously in Italy, using only top-drawer materials and Zeiss lenses for indisputable quality and un-rivalled UV protection. A knockout model sure to turn heads—catch ‘em while you can.

RELEASE: SUPER SPRING 2011

Since day one in 2007, our objective was to create a brand that would enclose four main characteristics: contemporary well defined designs, top quality materials, the best price point these two combinations could ever have and making a product for everyone, for the People. These principles are still what guide us today.
The result of three years of hard work and commitment. Experimenting with leather, metal, acetate, and the combination of them all. Defined and refined in one core and contemporary collection. With the addition of a small selection of new color combinations, this is the Spring for Super, that altogether make up the most complete collection yet.

THE CONTEMPORARY COLORS

Our three recently released silhouettes come in a complete new color range that remind us of the early days, the start of Super with the launch of the colored Basic model three years ago. But this time adapted and restudied in an elegant and cutting edge version. The People, Andrea, and Lucia come in a semi-transparent acetate in a range of warm and soft colors: honey, ice, bottle green, washed out blue, and deep brown. These are the colors that will light up your summer.

THE LEATHERS

The Leather Flat Top has become another iconic product of Super, the smell of the real leather and the handcrafted artesian work behind these shades give this piece a real uniqueness. Available in 3 burning colors: black, brown and beige. In addition to these three established colors you will find another version that combines leather and acetate: the “Randagio”. A Puma acetate skeleton hand covered in top-notch leather with refined gold details that gives it a determined and accurate design.

THE HORN (NEW)

As the Leather is the representation of how our continuous research in material and texture is an important characteristic, and how it can transform a simple model in to a must have piece without going over the top in excessive looks. The Lucia and People are realized in a full iridescent Shell and a retro Ivory, standing out in excellence in our new collection. This versatile material has also been studied and combined with various techniques and other acetates revealing a whole new aesthetic, wether it be exposed or kept in the interior of the eyewear.

THE TONE ON TONE (NEW)

These new Tone on Tone sets are yet another example of how Super remains true to its roots, yet is in continuous evolution. These new tints are a natural evolution of our color on color 2009 models. Specifically studied for the kind of people that are not to keen on loud colors, yet still would like to have a little twist in their eyewear. Today in a new transparent black and deep brown. A more contemporary look, less flashy, yet simple and fresh. For everyday use, wether it be under the sun in Miami or during a visit to the roman Pantheon.

THE COMBINED

The act of combining metal and acetate results in a unique and fine piece of eyewear that distinctly recalls certain timeframes and styles in history. They are elegant, yet  young and fresh. The guiding of the materials highlight their aesthetics and colliding values, bringing out the strength and coolness of the metal with the flexible life of the acetate and the soft and soothing touch of the leather.

THE GINO AND THE CHICANO

The Gino and Chicano are what we refer to as our “tough nuts”, our insatiable warriors, whom have been keep the name high since their release in 2008-2009.  A Flat Top and a Ciccio Flat Top have been adorned on their tops with distinctive gold details: a triangle and an incisive straight decoration. They are the square-breakers. These individual pieces are meant to stand alone from the pack and when combined they are a strong and characteristic team, the typical design that takes time to be understood. But yet when this happens, they are for sure the ones that know  how to steal the spotlight.

THE BLONDE HAVANA MATTE

The Blond Havana Matte is definitely one of the simplest yet characteristic components of our 2010 collection, directly leaping it amongst our most prevailing and popular pieces. Like black sunglasses, havana is one of the biggest selling colors in the eyewear market, eternal, easy to wear, elegant and classy. We decided to give it a personal touch, just to stand out a little from the crowd, so we made it matte. All our top silhouettes: the Flat Top, Classic Shape, People, Andrea, and our Lucia come in this impeccable matte havana version.

THE BLACK HAVANA (NEW)

The Black Havana can easily be defined “The new black”. This is a piece worth of attention, with their shiny black coating on the exterior of the frame, they secretly hide a fierce havana acetate on the inside, that remind us of a tropical Panamanian leopard. This new color will be available in all our top frames, for those who want a classic shade with a touch. Flawless.

“SAY HELLO TO SUPER”

Color has been the beginning of our story and we are devoted to them. They have been a small revolution in the eyewear business, a trend that has been followed by small and huge brands. As i-D stated, “they are being eaten like hot italian paninis”, and the best is yet to come. The formula: Simple, colored, high quality standards, affordable price. Thanks to the insatiable hunger for these original models, they still go strong in our Core Collection.

“OLD” SCHOOL

Alongside our traditional colors of birth, we have a series of styles that also represent an important part of Super’s short yet intense history. With their retro flavor, as if they were made back in the 80′s, these models have constantly gained attention over these three years and never disappointed. Their names: New York, Technicolor, Retroski, Frank 1 and Frank 2.

Super is releasing fourteen new shades to face this cold and hopefully sunny winter. As usual Top notch acetate and Carl Zeiss lenses. Entirely hand made in the little boot. Don’t let your eyes freeze.

THE METAL & ACETATE ANDREA

Our research in material and combinations evolve with every new season, this specific case is a transformation our Andrea model. Offering a solid and classic piece of eyewear, for both an optical use as well as impenetrable sun block. Both models are available in our signature havana and black.

NEW WINTER COLORS

We introduced color in the sunglass market a few years back. Color is a very important component of our brand, especially when they are innovative and elegant as these four new entries: caramel, bottle green, dark brown and light yet deep blue. Paired with a selection of fine Carl Zeiss tinted lenses for a finishing touch. Available only in few selected models: Lucia, Andrea and People.

THE CRYSTALS

Introducing our People silhouette in one of our best-selling acetates, the crystal. The transparent acetate reveals the skeletal soul of the frame, underlining the simple and beautiful mechanics of the eyewear. This piece is available with both our rock hard black Carl Zeiss lens as well as our clear Car Zeiss lens, both feature top UV protection.

THE FRANCIS HAVANA

The fine black and gold of our Francis series are definitely a representative set for Super, distinctive, rich and loved by many celebrities.
The Havana is also one of our most classic colorations, therefore this combination of style came in a very natural way. Havana front and golden arms for our classical silhouettes: Ciccio, Flat Top and Basic.

This new collection integrates and closes a route that Super has embraced as its release strategy ever since the beginning. The new pieces complete the Super catalog, which now hits a wide range of consumers and stores, yet keeping it cool and cutting edge.
All of the new packs we are introducing to our catalog are conceived and designed to fully satisfy a variety of aimed markets. Wether it be a basic piece with a lower cost; or an elaborately constructed piece of eyewear using a specific selection of material, and therefore resulting in a higher price range. What they all have in common is the high quality, research of style and authenticity that each and every single piece of the collection share.
Super is well known for creating quality products for the most reasonable price possible, this is one of the principle reasons we decided to make eyeglasses, the other, for them to be endorsed by a vast and different kind of people that appreciates our continuous evolution of quality. Enjoy.

This set of sunglasses expresses exactly how we are feeling on a day to day basis in this moment. Wanting to stand out from the masses, yet in a very subtle manner. By carefully electing a handful of colors, combining them with a selection of classically tinted lens, as well as applying them to our new classic silhouette, the People. We are making a statement.
As others just enter the colored market with shapes similar to our Basic silhouette, we decide to take it a step further.

One of the main themes we decided to introduce and exploit in our new AW2010/2011 collection is the technique of combining materials, from acetate with metal, to acetate and leather and to finish off acetate on acetate! This results in a unique and fine piece of eyewear that distinctly recalls certain timeframes and styles in history.
This technique is something that Super was missing from its past productions, and we believe we had to include it as an enriching urge of spirit. They are elegant, but still young and fresh. You feel the strength and cold of the metal with the flexible life of the acetate or the mellow touch of the leather.


BLONDE HAVANA MATTE

Our new blond havana is definitely one of the simplest yet characteristic components of our new collection, directly placing it amongst our most prevailing pieces. Like black sunglasses, havana is one of the biggest selling colors in the eyewear market, eternal, easy to wear, elegant and classy. We decided to give it a personal touch, just to stand out a little from the crowd, so we made it matte. The fact that its opaque and the choice of using a light colored havana acetate not only makes it a unique piece, but also a whole different product then our signature Havana Glitter.

The collaboration between WeSC and SUPER  is the second venture into eyewear for WeSC. What made WeSC interested once again in eyewear was SUPER’s great products, brand philosophy and fresh ideas.

The two brands share many similarities – the ideas behind it and the joy in creating good things for good people. The result of the collaboration is something we are very proud of and look forward to wearing… Really soon.

The shades originated from the union of the two dynamic brands, resulting in a totally new shape designed on purpose for the Swedish brand: it’s retrò & modern, classic & streety at the same time.

All the details are in gold color like the metal decorum on the side that when opened reveals the WeSC logo. The shades comes with black mirrored lenses mounted, but also include a case containing a second set of rock hard pure black lenses. The shades are produced in a limited quantity of 500 pieces.

This month the cover of Nylon featured one of our inspiration icons.
M.I.A. shot by our friend Marvin Scott Jarrett appears energetic and in amazing shape after an intense period: she got engaged, had a baby and a lot of gritty work for the release of the new record.

I hope you will enjoy M.I.A. as much as we do, giving her personal touch to our Flat Top Cheetah from SS10, and who knows if we will maybe work together soon.

After re-living the excesses of the 80′s, we decided to embrace the essentialism and minimalism of objects and their functionality: a return to a classical and more elegant point of view, which had been overshadowed in these past few years, especially from the younger consumers. The SS10 RetroSuperFuture collection was conceived and designed with three basic key points in mind: simplicity, research and understated elegance.

The extra twist and the true summer feeling for the SS10 collection was given with the specific selection of style and material of the acetates, we proudly present our Summer Safari theme.
The Summer Safari acetates and combinations successfully combine a fresh and innovative style without stepping out of line from our three initial focus points (mentioned above), yet maintaining the everyday style and understated elegance we wanted.

Another additional feature on some of the Super’s new silhouettes of this season is weight with the Andrea, the People, the Lucia and the W that are very lightweight yet high-quality sunglass. This collection is characterized by our “super” distinctive mark: which now functions as a decorative cap between the frame and the leg, revealing our logo only when the eyewear is opened, when the piece is closed it creates a simple yet incisive recognition decor.

NEW SILHOUETTES
ANDREA

Andrea: surprisingly simple yet stylish piece of unisex eyewear. This specific design came about while researching an avant-garde look that would simultaneously be an instant classic, a piece that was cutting-edge and cool enough for the trend leaders as well as a more mainstream consumers.
We therefore took our established classic flat top shape and eliminated the bottom acetate, revealing a refreshing futuristic lens and look. By combining classical acetates such as our signature Havana and Summer Safari tortoise combos (just to name a few) we gave it a very chic look while stripping the piece to its essentiality and function. Less is more.

LUCIA

Lucia: designed for women, characterized by a petit and extremely thin frame, yet boasts an extremely strong design and Giotto-esque round lens.
This is amongst the most experimental of our season’s designs, nonetheless maintaining a surprising classic simplicity.
Feeding the fashion-hungry women, this sunglass comes in a selected variety of combinations and is of an extraordinary elegance and lightness.

PEOPLE

People: Creating a classical unisex piece of eyewear which can be worn satisfying every need and occasion is a sunglass company’s biggest challenge.
The People model is a slightly smaller-framed and thin yet meticulously designed piece which combines smooth curves with sharp and sudden angles and almost circular lenses with long geometrically squared-shaped arms.
The People is able to satisfy a large variety of different styles (thus the name), simultaneously be a chic and tasteful gentlemen piece when in havana glitter; or be a unique retro look when in our jungle Summer Safari version; or a simply and sensually feminine when in our light savannah acetate and lens.

W: Inspired by the unique style of late 70′s italian design, such as our favorite, Marcello Gandini, to name one.
The W represents our retro-futuristic style to perfection, yet also offers a basic simplicity in its design. The W was designed all in one line, maintaining all angles square, to the point that the arms don’t even curve. It is sought of as the new classic shape of the future.

SUPER RELEASE: THE FALL WINTER COLLECTION

For our AW09/10 collection we worked on a few essential points: Improving a high quality standard to match the style of the brand, concentrating on curating the small details to give the new pieces a finishing touch of quality and last but not least we added brand-new silhouettes and new sets of lenses to our range.

You will notice, that from this collection on,  we’ve moved our “super” distinctive mark: which now functions as a decorative cap between the frame and the leg, revealing our logo only when the eyewear is open, when the piece is closed it creates a simple yet incisive recognition decor.

By adding a larger variety of lenses to our collection – both in color and predominantly in function – we gave our pieces, not only a beautiful aesthetic match, but also a specific lens for its specific purpose.

TOPSKI NEWS
Pieces such as the TopSki mount highly sensible Zeiss mirrored lenses for all snow terrains and strong sunlight, with leather protections to keep the wind & sun out of your eyes.

Our Frances “golden arms” series is an ode to the Italian elegance, fashion and lifestyle of La Bella Vita. With its sharp black acetate and shiny legs this series is incredibly stylish and elegant, the all-black Zeiss completely hides your eyes, protecting them and maintaing the exclusive mystery-man look.

For this collection we decided to introduce two new shapes to maintain the RetroSuperFuture look.
The first being the most fashionista and futuristic: the Luciano Tre Occhi.
This model comes in two sizes, to best suit both male and female faces and features. Its geometric yet classic design recalls the unique Italian style of engineer-deisgn, especially that of the Futurista movement and of Italian designers such as Marcello Gandini. The black, tortoise and dark grey make this piece of eyewear elegant and unique.

The second being a spin-off of our instant classic shape, the FlatTop, is our four-lensed-side-view eyewear. This piece is a fearless alternative to our FlatTop, maintaining an elegant sense of design and choice of gentleman colors, it may be proudly worn for any occasion, wether it be driving on a sunday afternoon or to in your everyday life.
